Rich Sokolosky is a seasoned data practitioner with a primary focus on health care related sources and analytics. With over 20 years of hands-on, strategy, and leadership experience, he recognized early on the shift in importance from the operational report and dashboard user to the data scientist. Rich has written numerous articles and spoken on the new big data approaches and technologies necessary to serve the analyst community. More importantly, he has architected and led some of the first pioneering projects in life sciences to prove the effectiveness and benefits of the new techniques and their value in understanding patient treatment and outcomes.
Rich has long held three guiding beliefs:
- Data engineering for analytics needs to be more flexible than the highly scripted data warehouse process
- Small flat teams of talented and seasoned professionals can deliver data and analytics far more quickly than a large scale organization and in the end prove to be more cost effective
- Hosted data management and analytic services are the best way for organizations to benefit from the evolution of data science sandboxes and those services need to encompass short term as well as long term needs.
Sentier Health Informatics was founded to put these beliefs into practice and better serve the health data scientist and analyst community.
Rich has held leadership and business development positions at leading health and management consulting organizations including Humedica, Shyft Analytics, and NewVantage Partners where he was the Partner responsible for the Life Sciences Practice. Under his leadership, the Life Sciences Practice contributed over half the revenues of the company for the last two years. Rich holds a BS from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a MA from the George Washington University.
